What is Art of Anxiety?

Clinical Disorders

Clinical disorders, as many know, have complex etiology (process of development). However, we do know that environmental factors account for a substantial portion of the development of clinical psychiatric diagnoses. Triggers are essential for understanding the development of a disturbance in every case. However, one of the most traumatic and anxiety producing aspects of trying to heal is the stigma and prejudice that the individual faces; as well as the patholigization that many individuals feel impedes their way back to health. The purpose of this exhibit is to rectify that.

Working against the above mentioned stigma that haunts many, Nili chooses to use art as a means to stand up for the oppressed. With her exhibit, 'The art of Anxiety', she gives the observers a first person perspective of what anxiety feels like, with the hopes of combating stigma and bringing about empathy and understanding.
